My South America trip is approaching and I have not organized much. Am I worried? Yes! But I am also traveling with the follow so planning everything is not the goal this time.
However, I admit I have been reading a lot about Traveling alone, South America cities, Backpackers, Long solo trips…
Fortunately, there are too many sources of information: Blogs, Magazines, Books… Can give us almost all the details we need (sometimes too many, actually 🙁 ).
Today I am sharing with you some books which have been useful to get me in the mood to travel around and to give precious tips about traveling on my own for such a long period.

Brazil’s Guide
Brazil… Brazil… The Samba, The Caipirinha, The Feijoada… I am passionate by this country. This guide is definitely very complete. More than 800 pages that explain you: the different parts of the country; the traditions in each region; the best spots/ places to visit where you are.
The book is divided per regions and it contains maps and pictures along its explanations. If you are going just for 5 days, this guide can also be useful because it presents organized trips for short periods without missing the most important things to do/ to visit.
Restaurants, bars, hotels, clothes, costumes… You will find everything in the book about Brazil.
The good part: it brings a web version of the guide so I can take it with you during the trip.

This book was a gift from my best friend and I think is totally worth it if you like photography.
This one is the opposite of the Brazilian guide because there is not much writing information. However, theses pages really put you in the mood to travel the world. This book shows pictures from all over the world… From page to page you will find yourself in Chile, Bali, Australia…
Cheers to the photographers who are able to catch such beautiful moments, places and people.
Kicking Ass on the Road
The Ultimate Guide for the Solo Woman Traveler
For a while I did not feel comfortable traveling alone, this why I got this ultimate book. I knew I was not the only girl traveling the world but I really wanted to read more about others experiences.
I read this book in 3 days. It is a small book (200 pages) and information is very structure and condensate. The book meets very well its purpose: inform and help to organize a solo trip. There are not only chapters with lists about packing but also chapters about safety, accommodation and drugs.
If you just jumped in the traveling world, this book might also be a good choice. The author speaks in the 1st person and gives many advices for the travel beginners.
Go your Own Way
Women travel the World Solo
I have not finished this one. I was expecting much about this book but I guess it disappointed me a little bit.
This book is about young girls who travel the world and share their experiences. Divided in countries (from Italy to Uzbekistan…) the girls talk about the good and the bad things of traveling alone. There are not “MUST VISIT”, “MUST PACK”, “MUST DO” in the book, instead, it presents funny episodes that happen to the authors along the road.
